Who should attend?
All staff who are required to provide emergency life support techniques to approved first aid standards.
Course participants will learn:
This course will cover both theoretical and practical elements of basic first aid. The training covers the skills and knowledge required for those who provide emergency life support techniques to approved first aid standards.
Topics include:
- Occupational health and safety
- Safety at the scene / calling for assistance
- Management of the unconscious patient
- Assessment of the sick or injured person
- Record keeping, referral mechanisms and correct patient monitoring techniques
- Wounds, soft tissue injuries and fractures
- Spinal injuries and shock
- Burns, electric shock and eye injuries
- Venomous bites and stings
- Assisting in childbirth
- Methods of moving sick and injured patients
- First-aid boxes at the workplace
- Personal hygiene techniques
